Shaker Style

Shaker style is a simple style which works equally well in a country casual or a contemporary kitchen design. This is a good choice if you want the other elements (such as the countertops, tile backsplash, or appliances) to take center stage. It consists of a rectangular border with a flat panel center. In full overlay construction style, the doors and drawer fronts are manufactured larger to cover most of the front frame which minimizes the amount of frame which is visible. Full overlay design cabinets require handles. All styles have at least 1/2 inch thick side wall construction. All of the cabinet styles also have full depth shelves (unless stated otherwise). The center panels on the painted styles can be MDF or HDF since it takes paint more evenly. Some of the doors have a 90 degree angle from the stile to the center panel. Some of the doors have a bevel from the stile to the center panel. Stiles can be either Slim (1/2 to 1 inch wide), Narrow (2 to 2.5 inches wide), or Standard (2.75 to 3 inches wide). The painted door styles are listed first, followed by the stained door styles.
